In July 2017 we had an unbelievable bad experience that we are now looking around for other companies. Both of our buses lost A/C during a heat wave leaving our group severely dehydrated. The drivers were not able to fix the problem until they arrived in Springfield and took it to a shop while we attending the weekend long conference.
The lead bus driver was rude and purposely sabotaged the new driver he was partnered with. This was very uncomfortable for us being stuck in the middle of 2 employees fighting. Our group not only suffered due to no A/C, but the intentional lack of communication between the drivers left half our group without a ride resulting in us leaving later than planned. This didn’t just happen on our day we left for the conference, but also when we wanted the buses to meet up with us on the day we were departing back home. We finally had enough with the lead driver and started communicated with the rookie instead and viewed him as the captain so information would be properly communicated.
During our trip from St. Louis to Springfield the lead driver drove faster than the rookie resulting in half our group being miles behind us. We stopped for lunch in Rolla so half our group was about 10-15 minutes later arriving. On the drive home from Springfield to St. Louis we noticed an accident ahead that had the highway shut down. We took it upon ourselves to direct the bus driver off of the highway and on to the outter road so we could get past the accident without too much delay. We still experienced a delay that was unavoidable, but not as long of a delay as if we stayed on the highway that remained closed for hours. The lead driver wanted to stay on the highway and also wouldn’t communicate with his partner about the path we took on the outter road, rather we did from the lead bus.
When we arrived back home I have a specific amount of money that they church allows me for a tip. When I went to give a tip to each driver, the lead driver who we had issues with all weekend, commented that he should get his partners tip too and he would distribute it. I didn’t not like his suggestion, after our experience I assume he would have pocketed it all himself. After any trip we get a paper evaluation and this year we didn’t get one from the lead driver and I am not surprised because he probably already knew how we felt.
